To promote hockey at the grassroots level, a center will soon be established here to train aspiring players from the city.
Harinder Singh Bhullar, a former hockey coach and deputy director of physical education at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), will start the hockey skills development center at the Prithipal Singh Memorial Astroturf Hockey Stadium here on the university campus.
Bhullar said that 12-16 year old players (boys) will be reported to the center where they will receive coaching / training free of charge. “If there are enough players, more coaches will be hired to hone their skills and prepare them for future competitions,” he said. – OC
