Australia and India lock the horns in the final chapter of growing competition

Amid a record 24-game winning streak in ODI cricket, Australia took on the team and helped them reach the heights they have achieved with this win.

At the Indian Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017, India sent the first shot over the bow and dropped the tournament favorites in the semi-finals. It was a defeat largely caused by the Harmanpreet Kauri racket that blew an unbeaten 171 out of 115.

However, due to a thumb injury, Harmanpreet has been excluded from the first ODI. India will soon take a call about his availability in the second match of the series.

Four years after this defeat, Australia is a favorite going to the second World Cricket Cup, and they have played in game history at an unparalleled level of consistency. After a semi-final loss from India, they have lost just one ODI and won in the last 24 matches. In the same format, they will meet in Queensland this week before the test and T20I sections.

“It’s an almost great thing that happened from our team’s perspective since then. We’ve changed the way we approach the game,” Australian goalkeeper Alyssa Healy quoted Cricinfo this month when he looked back at the match.

All the games have had amazing performances and lots of weird results, so it’s no surprise to me that we have this little bubble of competitiveness and a bit of competition going on.

It’s kind of unspeakable, but it’s certainly there that we know they want to pump themselves up when they play in Australia, and they’ve shown that they come out and perform. “

In early 2018, Australia started its winning streak and started it appropriately against India. They sweep the Indians 3-0 and Healy capped the first ODI century in the third match.

They met again later that year at the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, and India made a second loss to Australia at the ICC event, throwing them to 119 with a 48 win. This time, however, the loss did not end in the Australian tournament, with Meg Lannings crowned champions.

Two years later, the teams faced each other in the opening match of the 2020 T20 World Cup. In the previous tri-series, they had each won one loss to each other. While Australia won this tri-series final, it showed that India had a chance to beat Australia on its own terms.

And so it turned out in the actual tournament, where India turned the Australias campaign on its head with a 17-fold victory at the Sydney Showground Stadium. In one of the tournament’s most memorable spells, Poonam Yadav took 4/19, removing Healyn from 51 before heading through Australia’s top and middle.

It was back to wall in Australia throughout the tournament, but as the champions do, they found a way to get to the finals where they met India in front of a crowded MCG audience.

This time, they placed to the right of the legger as Healy and Beth Mooney set the 115-run opening platform to take over the Australians for a total of 184/4 and 85-run victories.

Both teams have not met since, except for last week’s warm-up.
