Indias Payas Jain and Vishruth Ramakrishnan win the title at the WTT Youth Competition

Indias Payas Jain won the second consecutive boys under the age of 17 after winning Tom Closset’s 3-1 WTT youth race final in Belgium in Tunis.

Picking the wires from where he ended up in Otocec, Payas overtook Tom at the 7-11, 11-4, 11-4, 15-13 summit on Sunday.

The Delhi boy, who won gold in the same series in Slovenia last week, started the final poorly but returned strongly to rise 2-1.

However, in the fourth game, his opponent wasted a couple of game points to end the Indian style.

In the semi-finals, Payas defeated Preyesh Raj Suresh 16-14, 11-8, 11-8.

Despite his superiority in the first game, Tamil Nadu’s son couldn’t break Payas ’confidence and eventually settled for the bronze.

The bronze was won by Ankur Bhattacharjee, who played a lasting semi-final against Tom Closset.

However, Payas for boys under the age of 19 did not again cross the semi-finals on Sunday.

The Indian signed the bronze after falling to Louis Laffineur 1-3 (11-9, 10-12, 4-11, 9-11).

Payas started well and after a small fight in the second, crashed. The Belgian jumped back well and completed the task soon after the second match.

In the second semi-final, Maharashtra’s son Deepit Patel fell 3-11, 4-11, 7-11 to Adrien Rassanfoss, who is also Belgian. Adrien eventually won by defeating her compatriot Tom in the final.

Left-handed Preyesh corrected his defeat to take the title of boys under 15.

He knocked down Ankur Bhattacharje in the final 3-1 (11-8, 15-13, 11-13, 11-9). The West Bengal paddler rose to the podium for the second time and this time won a silver medal.

Another Indian, PB Abhinand from Tamil Nadu, won the bronze medal after losing his semifinals 9-11, 12-10, 7-11, 1-11 to Anchor earlier in the day.

For boys under the age of 11, it was again an Indian show when Vishruth Ramakrishnan won a gold medal after considering local boy Amir Essid. The son of Tamil Nadu won 11-4, 11-3, 11-7.
