Oakland As Game # 151: As lose again to the Seattle Mariners, 5-2

Oakland As is still unable to resolve the Seattle Mariners.

As lost to the Mariners on Tuesday for the 10th time with 14 attempts this season. Tonight it was a 5-2 loss where Oakland failed and the runners were scoring, and another straight night they went quietly against Seattle at the Coliseum.

The drop hit in the 4th round. Draw 1-1, Beginner Paul Blackburn allowed the lead to triple and came one stroke away from it. Instead of walking, another triple and single were pushed over three runs to give the sailors a lead they never gave up.

The first round was even more frustrating. In the second set, Blackburn had runners in the corners two out and two strokes in the batter, and he passed the pick-up pass past the first position. This made the man a third in an undeserved run, and two fields later the batter struck to end the frame.

The Oaklands Bullpen lasted five innings for just one run, but as last night, the return never materialized. Sam Moll was particularly impressive, throwing two scorers and hitting three and picking up one of his two baserunners. Sergio Romo allowed Homer alone on the 9th to give Seattle additional insurance.

In the attack, As made tight connections but was unable to form any rally. The pair’s two-set singles in the 4th inning were followed by a tough ground, and doubles both 8th and 9th were also lost, a total of 0-5 and runners in the scoring position. Their only runs came for a couple of homers, but neither was on the field, once in the first set and again in the fourth.

The first dish was on site Matt Olson, who gave Oakland the lead before Seattle leveled it with its undeserved run in Blackburn. Olson peaked his career with his 37th long ball of the season, and it’s also the fourth time this year that he went deep against the Mariners starter Marco Gonzales.

It was Olsons MLB’s leading 21st home game from left-back pitchers this summer, putting him in a rare historical club.

After Seattle took fourth place, starling Mars responded alone with a shot at the bottom.

Overall, the game was similar to last night. The Mariners retreated forward in the early innings, while the left-wing novice and their bull bottles kept the As lineup under control.

Loss of land

Oakland was due to clear Seattle this week, but that won’t happen yet. All the other Wild Card teams won tonight, so As lost on the field and now has three games from another Wild Card 11 to play, and The Mariners have got them in the league table with the same record. It’s not mathematically over yet, but they’re going in the wrong direction and all the remaining hope is thinning day by day.
