Bob Myers was excited about the value of the signatures of the free agents of the Warriors

The Warriors were tied to stars all over the league this season, including Ben Simmons, Damian Lillard and Pascal Siakam, as fans shout for a return to the dominance they saw during five consecutive matches in the 2015-19 NBA Finals.

The Warriors, on the other hand, made no hit deals and ended up signing minimum contracts for veterans of Andre Iguodala, Nemanja Bjelica and Otto Porter Jr., as the organization owns the NBA’s largest pay cut for the 2021-22 season.

CEO Bob Myers knows fans are frustrated, but stressed value of additions in an interview with The San Francisco Chronicle’s Rusty Simmons.

Most people looked at bigger things or hoped for bigger things, but were very happy with how the whole thing culminated in us, Myers told Simmons. People aren’t very excited about the minimum numbers, but they have to look at the players. At least that’s how we see it. We added really quality people and players.

There is indeed reason to be optimistic about each of the above additions.

Iguodala is, of course, a Warriors legend who has an MVP in the NBA Finals under his belt and who still plays a strong defense and brings in a high basketball IQ at the age of 37.

Bjelica is an excellent outside shooter who completes critical minutes during a stretch week, shooting 38.7 percent of the three-point range during his career and is 6 feet-10.

Porter is a former top five draft picker who should give some depth to the wing and is also a capable shooter from the outside.

Without making a big deal, the Warriors were also able to add two chances to the 2021 NBA Draft lottery by choosing Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody.

The Warriors hope to regain the honor that saw the three titles end up in the Bay Area, and much of that honor is tied to Klay Thompson’s expected return this season.

Adding an influencer like Simmons or Bradley Beal could have increased the likelihood of becoming a competitor right away, but it would also have cost a treasure chest, an asset that could help the team win now but also in the future.

It remains to be seen whether the ultimate choice for Warriors was the right one, but Warriors is clearly committed to trying to make a profit now with a core that has, as well as young and veteran offseason additions.
