CHATTANOOGA — The Chattanooga Mocs women’s tennis team secured six double wins between several flights on the opening day of Stetson Invite on sunny DeLand, Fla., On Friday afternoon.
“The team had a great first day in the race. The new players took the opportunity to shine,” said the head coach Chad Camper. “A few adjustments will continue as we compete tomorrow.”
DOUBLE GAMES
In the doubles category of the Flight B competition, a duo Emma Van Hee and Coco Bosman won 6-4 Stetson Elodie Foster Alanna Di Francesco, before Van Hee and Nicole Abel claimed to dominate a 6-1 victory over Hatters Noa Cohen and Laia Pasin.
Flight C doubles, combination Wilma Bergqvist and Caroline Gibbens earned an impressive 6-1 decision against hosts Tess Menten and Laetitia Rizk. Bosman and Jada Young followed by another decisive 6-1 victory over Louisiana Eleanor Campbell and Miranda Kawula.
Transfer to flight D, Lilly Holmes and Bergqvist took a similar 6-1 lead to Menten and Rizk, while Young and Holmes battled for a 6-3 victory over Daliyah Hammoud and Anna Dovgopoly.
