Valley Field Hockey remains invincible; Volleyball loses a closed match to North Branford

The Valley Regional Field Hockey Team played three games as part of last week’s action and earned wins in all three races. The Warriors remained undefeated for the season with a 7-0 mark.

On September 20, the Warriors left for Westbrook to face the Westbrook-Old Lyme team. Valley beat the Knights 9-0.

Valley scored seven goals in the first half and added two more with a good measurement in the second half. Mia Alio scored a couple of goals for Valley, while Lilly Lavigne scored three goals with one pass. Abby Amara scored two goals and scored, while Lily Grow and Clara Shea scored. Brooke Lavigne added a couple of passes and Margaret Jacaruso also created the winner’s assistant.

Two days later, the Warriors headed to the Indian River Complex to receive Morgan. Valley won 2-0 against the Huskies.

On September 25, the Warriors hosted Somers and took an irregular win 10-0.

Girls volleyball

The Warriors played a couple of matches last week and won two losses. With the losses, Valley’s overall result fell in season 3-2.

On September 20, the Warriors set out for NorthBrford to receive the Thunderbirds. Valley fought hard but lost 3-2 to North Branford.

The Warriors won the first two sets with 25-16 and 25-15, but then the Thunderbirds secured the next three sets with a 25-21, 25-22 and 15-10 victory.

Salmi Miller delivered seven kills, 11 wells and an ace, while the Audrey Board had eight kills, four blocks and a dig. Kaia Karcich had 37 receptions, 34 digs, seven aces, a kill and a pass. Ella Pittman made six kills, two aces, two blocks and two wells, while Madison Neviaser added 16 receptions, 18 wells, four aces and two kills. Sophie Scrivo had 25 passes, eight digs, two kills, an ace and a block, while Emi Bisson had eight receptions and nine digs. Chase Conrad made two kills, five wells, and two receptions.

Two days later, the Warriors hosted Hale-Raya and dropped a 3-1 match against Noises. Hale-Ray won the tight controversial first set 27-25 and rose 2-0 in 25-16 seconds. Valley fought back in the 25-21 second installment, but Noises claimed a victory in the 25-21 score in the fourth installment.

Scrivo injured 15 wells, 10 passes, five kills, two blocks, loss of reception. Karcich had 35 receptions, 26 wells, four aces and one pass, while Neviaser had 18 wells, 12 receptions, three aces, two passes and one kill. Miller made 16 kills, 12 wells, two kills and an ace, and Ella Pitman made two kills, two aces, a block and three pits. The board had four blocks, three kills, two aces, and two digs.

Girls soccer

The Warriors had a couple of races last week and they lost both games. With two losses, the Valley record fell in season 2-2.

On Sept. 21, the Warriors hosted Morgan and lost a 2-0 decision against the Huskies. Three days later, Portland was in town and Valley dismissed the 3-0 decision against the Highlanders.
