Tom Brady: “I’m not going to remember,” says star QB before the Patriots meeting

The prodigal son returns on Sunday Brady ends again at Gillette Stadium, but not under the leadership of Bill Belichick as the New England Patriot.

After spending 20 years winning six Super Bowls in Foxborough, Brady faces his old coach Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“I don’t think this is the right time for that. I have plenty of opportunities to reminisce about my football career – nothing, and I really don’t want to do it right now because I’m so involved in the moment.

“I’m not going to think about 20 years of history. I’m going to think of one football night, a Sunday night game that will be a really tough loss.

“It’s obviously going to be a fun week. There’s a lot of gathering, a lot of hype, and I know it’s been going on for a while now. I’m excited to be able to play a football game,” Brady added.

The scent of a sweet scent

Despite his reluctance to go to memory, Brady admitted that arriving at such a familiar place on the other side of the fence is a special experience.

“I know that dressing room, I know that home dressing room, I know that home tunnel, I know which direction the wind is blowing, I know all about it. I know what it smells like. I know what a night game is, I know what fans sound like,” Brady said.

“So it’s really unique in a way. I’ve never had that kind of experience going to New England, and it’s the first time I’m on the other side.”

The partnership between Brady and Belichick supported the era of Patriots ’unprecedented success and at the same time established Brady’s position as one of the greatest athletes of all time.

After resigning, Brady has continued his seventh championship ring – guiding the Buccaneers to a convincing victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in his first season in Florida – while the Belichick Patriots aired for the first time since 1999, ending the season with a losing record and not making the playoffs.

“Fucking right,” Brady Sr. told Tom Curran on the Patriot’s Talk podcast.

“Belichick wanted him out the door and last year he threw 56 goals. I think this is a pretty good year.”

Curran asked, “Does Brady feel the same?”

“Fucking right,” Brady the senior replied.

“He’s a great mentor to me”

Brady Jr. was a little more diplomatic when discussing his former boss.

“Well, I’ve been there for 20 years and apparently he’s a great mentor for me,” Brady said.

“I think he’s definitely got some good lessons. He’s a great football coach and he does a good job for his team. And you know, any player, I think they just hope their coach will give them everything they got.

“I’m sure every great coach wants every player to give them everything they got. And I think this is going to be a good relationship.”

After this loss to Rams, Bucs arrives in Foxborough with a record 2-1, and the Patriots sit 1-2 at the start of the season.

Belichick’s team fell home to the New Orleans Saints at 28-13 on Sunday when the Patriots left too much land to make up for an early 0-14 deficit.
