“When Steve Smith played in Chennai (earlier this year), he did a good job for us,” Pant said.

“We thought we’d give him a chance and see how he does.”

Australian coach Justin Langer is desperate for Smith and David Warner, who was recently dropped by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the second time this season to get to the park as much as possible in the coming weeks.
