Utah Ute Football: The Tragic Loss of Aaron Lowe

The tragedy has once again struck the University of Utah football program.

Nearly nine months after freshman star Ty Jordan died last December, his close friend, defender Aaron Lowe, was shot and killed in Salt Lake City early last Sunday morning hours after Utes won his first Pac-12 victory. season.

Lowe was the first recipient of a Ty Jordan Memorial grant just before the start of the season, and he moved from No. 2 to No. 22 to honor Jordan.

It’s hard to imagine what Utah coaches and players are experiencing right now.

We are shocked to hear about the death of Aaron Lowe, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said in a statement on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Aarons ’family and friends and the rest of the person affected by this tragic event. Aaron was a great teammate, friend, brother and son, and everyone loved the border with him. He becomes deeply missed.

Utes has a hello hello this week and they won’t be playing again until Oct. 9 at USC.

This is absolutely awful. I can’t believe the U national football team lost two good, promising young men in less than a year. Thoughts and prayers for family, friends, teammates, coaches, and everyone else who knew and loved Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. We all grieve with you.

We live in a truly violent world where so many innocent lives are taken away. My heart touches the students and teachers of the University of Utah. I can’t imagine how difficult this is for the team going forward. Just a reminder that life can turn a penny. There are a lot of good people on this campus, as well as the resilience shown by the loss of Ty Jordan. Utah has certainly shown its ability to overcome adversity in the past. They face a challenge this time too.
