Mitchell High School girls ’tennis marches for the second consecutive ESD title

Mitchell had three winners, and no player got lower than fourth place on any of the nine flights to score 296.5 points. High school. It’s Mitchells ’third conference title in the last five seasons in girls’ tennis.

Olivia Huber won three times to win the doubles championship, which was limited to a 10-9 victory over Watertowns Josie Heyn in the semi-final and a tight match with Yanktons Nora Krajewski with points 10-9 (4).

Megan Mastel won two wins on Tuesday. Mastel, who plays number 6, won Harrisburgs Mckenzie Vickery 10-1 in the championship after Mastel had won 10-2 and 10-1 in the semi-finals and semi-finals to reach the championship.

Mastel was part of Team No. 3 of the pair with Delaney Degen at the time, marching through his supporters to the conference title. Harrisburgs Maddie Eisenbeisz and Vickery championship.

No. 2 double team Amber Moller and Sydney Reynolds finished second, losing 10-8 in a championship match between Harrisburgs Eloise Geraets and Maddie Grabov. Moller and Reynolds reached the championship by winning the semi-finals 10-5 with Carly Comstock and Livia Douglas from Aberdeen Central.

The No. 1 duel, the Atlanta Stahlen and Olivia Huber pair reached the semi-finals, where Brandon Valleys Michaela Jerke and Marie Pelletier defeated them 10-9 (7-1), followed by a third-placed loss to an 8-4 match between Pierres Sydney Tedrow and Kara Weiss.

On the fourth single, Julia Platt finished second and won the 10-4 Aberdeen Centrals Alice Vogel in the semi-finals and a 10-6 loss to Watertowns Leyla Meester.

In the singles, Atlanta Stahle took third place, dropping potential champion Maggie Schaefer, Yankton, in the semifinals (10-1) and beating Harrisburgs Emma Rangel 8-5 third.

Sydney Reynolds was third in 5th place in the doubles and defeated 8-1 Harrisburgs Maddie Grabow. Aberdeen Central winner Laney Gonsor defeated Reynolds 10-5 in the semi-finals. Amber Moller brought home fourth place in No. 3 singles, and third place match in an 8-0 finish to Watertowns Jaida Young.

Everything is now focused on the Class A state tennis tournament, which will be held from 4th to 5th. October in Sioux Falls, McKenna Park and Kuehn Park, when Mitchell will play for the third time in a row in a Class A championship.
