The Los Angeles Lakers faced Phoenix Suns in the second game of the season, but lost 117-105.
The score looks more respectable than the game actually, as the Suns wind through LA after the first three quarters. Phoenix led 102-74, but the LA bench won the fourth quarter 31-15 to reduce the deficit.
LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Trevor Ariza and Dwight Howard did not playand Devin Booker did not play in Phoenix.
However, Carmelo Anthony and Anthony Davis performed, and the first made their debut in purple and gold.
It wasn’t pretty for the Lakers until Talen Horton-Tucker and Malik Monk gained momentum towards the end of the third quarter, though it wasn’t enough.

With the Lakers 11 new faces on the guaranteed list, it was logical that the players would not gel immediately. This was very evident against Suns, who sent the same five players from the playoffs a year ago.
Suns didn’t seem to have missed it, even though he acquired JaVale McGee and Landry Shamet.
Finding chemistry quickly is a key factor in the success the Lakers hope to achieve as the difference in continuity and chemistry became apparent. Getting LeBron James and Russell Westbrook can speed up the process, but it still needs to happen quickly.

The opposition beat the Lakers again. Phoenix won the rebound battle 52-40, and 12 of them attacked the Suns offensive glass; By comparison, the Lakers succeeded in only four.
Rebounding teased the Lakers against the Brooklyn Nets, but in this game a large part of the small balls consisted. For those who were absent, LA often used lineups consisting of one large and four smaller players.
DeAndre Jordan grabbed seven in 20 minutes, but he also missed a lot while watching the ball. Smaller guards also need to do better in boxing and keep track of every missed shot.

Leading the Lakers by 15 points against Nets, Malik Monk dropped the game’s top 18 points in 7-of-11 shooting (4-of-7 from deep). The sniper battle is in Monk’s favor at this point, but he still has a lot to do in defense.
