Texas A&M drops to Georgia as the series opener – Texas A&M Athletics

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas Texas A&M volleyball (10-5, 3-2 SEC) dropped their series opener with Georgia Bulldogs (5-10, 1-3 SEC) on Thursday night and dropped three sets (21-25, 20-25, 17-25) .

Strong rejection on the left pin Lauren Davis saw Aggies pull one forward, but Georgia scored two straight points and forced Aggies to time out and stayed 8-7. The Bulldogs were able to pull forward with five and hold a 17-12 lead, forcing a new A&M timeout. Maroon & White fought for a couple of set points for the Bulldogs, but Georgia held on to victory 25-20.

In the remaining decisive round, Aggies paid back in a 3-0 round, which was cut in half by the Hecht block only due to Georgia. The Bulldogs took control and led 20-14 before Georgia’s error and the block to Talbert’s right opened Aggies ’3-0 goal. The Bulldogs made five sets and grabbed the third set, 25-17.

Texas A&M will end its two game series with Georgia on Friday at 7 p.m. Fans who have a ticket to a football match against Alabama to be played on Saturday will get free admission to the volleyball match by showing their ticket at the door. In addition, the first 500 fans will receive a Reedling Brothers Match Day hat and a 12th Man Centennial statue.
