Ronaldo Ballon d’Or’s potential was assessed

Cristiano Ronaldo is aiming to win the sixth Ballon d’Or championship when he was selected on the award list on Friday.

The Portuguese national team has not won major honors in 2021, although he finished last season at the top of the Serie A scorer chart with Juventus. Ronaldo has also started a good life at Old Trafford after a summer move and scored five goals in six matches.

However, the 36-year-old will face a serious competition for recognition, and Lionel Messi is currently the favorite for the award.

Messi was in inspired form in the summer when he finally got a big honor with Argentina when they won the Copa in America.

United book an unprecedented appointment

It was confirmed on Friday United have appointed their first data scientist.

Dominic Jordan has been added to Old Trafford’s staff, and the club is said to want to improve the way data is collected and analyzed.

Jordan had previously worked with the N Brown Group in Manchester, where he led a team of 30 data scientists.

United football manager John Murtough said the new recruiter offers “huge opportunities to strengthen our existing talents and build new ones” in the data field.

Fred’s absence gives United a chance to try

Given Fred and Edinson Cavan’s international commitments during the current break, it is unlikely that either of them will be available in the first match in the Premier League against Leicester City.

It means Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to make changes to the team that started the previous encounter when Everton kept a 1-1 draw.

While Cristiano Ronaldo seems the obvious solution to Cavan and leads the line, there are several options in midfield to replace Fred, including disadvantaged Donny van de Beek.
