Bears QB Justin Fields gets his training after college

Start here: Justin Fields no longer uses 40 in 4.4.

The excessively long left knee (suffered a Bears 20-9 win in the second quarter on Sunday against the Raiders) does this for the sprinter.

Also, getting a helmet and shoulder pads with a flying safety device (as Fields got in the first quarter of a failed spin) will slow you down. Try pumping your hands really hard when the ribs seem to be shish kebab poker.

This is the indoctrination of young defenders into the NFL.

In short, he is no longer in Columbus. His bears are not on their way to Evanston or Iowa City or Bloomington, Indiana. And the Florida Atlantic (remember that funny 45-21 blast for the Buckeyes in 2019?) Is not on schedule.

This is how young NFL game builders adapt or disappear, essentially through punches and damage done along the way, and how they come up with the opportunity to succeed and live.

The Bears-Raiders game was one of the most nervous, unflowing games I’ve seen in a while. Penalties, reviews, timeouts, delays (to see if Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was badly injured, among other things) and so on, prevented the game from getting any rhythm.

And it also seemed to prevent Fields from getting in sync. But most of all, he didn’t seem to understand that these enemies are bigger and stronger and much faster than any college football team. And that’s why he was injured twice when both cases were likely to be avoided.

As always, you admire the ball players want. Selling your body in football is a virtue. But the defenders are different.

Everyone just needs to watch Buccaneers ’miracle of Tom Brady, who threw over 400 yards on Sunday and got five touches for the first time in his career, at 44 years old.

Yes, Bradys is kind of a freak. But avoiding his constant injury is his central secret. How does he do it? Many meet Bucs from the attack system’s help to his brilliant mind with a mysterious sense of when enough is enough and it’s time to save.

Brady knows what’s possible.

Fields must have a hard time feeling so young and fresh (though not as fresh as a couple of days ago) and still blink back. Evidence of this is that he promised to retire but did not. It may be instinctive, but when it has been used against Raiders safety by Johnathan Abram to get a couple of yards more, he is lucky to still have a spleen.

Bears fans got their wishes. Fields starts, and veteran Andy Dalton is on the bench. But now fans have to watch an almost horror show as Fields finds the limits of this new game.

It gets ugly at times. It is almost always. And with 17 games this season, everyone except certain fields are injured and lose time.

People who think bears can’t do anything right, hey, CEO Ryan Pace might want to remember that they have a reservation for Dalton and one-time Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles, which is good. Aging and the average they can be. But some teams are almost rugged at the quarterback-backup spot.

Just be smart, that’s all, coach Matt Nagy said of his instructions to Fields.

I’m going to put myself there to win the games, Fields replied.

So there is conflict: security vs. aggression.

Perhaps Fields saw aggressive Bills playmaker Josh Allen as an obstacle Chiefs striker on Sunday night, jeopardizing everything except shooting his team hard during the process. Since Allen didn’t splash, it was a great move. Break the clavicle or tear the hip bender, and it’s not that great.

I’m reminded here of former quarterback David Carria, Dereks ’older brother, and his NFL record of 76 sacks suffered from his coming season as the Texans expanded. It is possible that he never recovered.

The wonderfully talented Archie Manning was beaten to fluff with new and terrible Saints. It stifled his career.

Troy Aikman went 0-11 as a beginner with the Cowboys, and Peyton Manning threw the highest 28 interruptions of his career as a Colts newcomer. But both recovered to win the Super Bowls and reach the Hall of Fame.

Here are a few paths for Fields to consider. They are different in the forest. Choosing the right one is of great importance to a young man.
