Davis, Stinchcomb to enter the Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Former Bulldog goalkeeper Thomas Davis and offensive line man Jon Stinchcomb will be appointed to the Georgia-Florida Hall of Fame during ceremonies and lunch, which will be presented by Miller Electric Company on Friday, October 29 as part of the Georgia-Florida weekend.

Davis and Stinchcomb will join Florida striker Ciatrick Fason and defensive defender Keiwan Ratliff in this year’s class. The group will be admitted to membership at the 25th Annual Lunch at the East Club at TIAA Bank Field.

“The Florida-Georgia game is one of Jacksonville’s longest running traditions and one of the highest competitions in college football,” said Mayor Lenny Curry. “Every year, the Hall of Fame lunch offers us the opportunity to identify some of the most talented student athletes and coaches and highlights the huge impact of this game and the strong connection to the city.”
Davis was the Bulldogs ’versatile defensive star, playing line player and safety throughout his career from 2002-2004. In Georgia, Davis collected 272 battles, 10.5 kicks, and three abductions, but he also assisted Dawg teams for three consecutive 10-win seasons or more, including the SEC championship in 2002. Davis was unanimous in the first team’s All-SEC selection in 2003 and 2004. , while being named First Team All-American in 2004 and was a semi-finalist in the Bednarik Award, which is given annually to the best defensive player in the country. The Carolina Panthers drafted Davis in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft, and was voted NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2014, recognizing the player’s field community service as well as excellence in gaming.

Stinchcomb arrived at UGA with outstanding success when he was named USA Today’s first team to All-America and a recipient of the 1998 National Football Foundation High School Scholar-Athlete Award. Stinchcomb began his career at UGA by earning freshman All-American honors, and when he was senior in 2002, he helped lead the Bulldogs to their first SEC championship in 20 years, while being named the first All-American team. was elected to the academic All-American team for the second year in a row. He was also one of the players in National Division I, who was named to the AFCA National Good Work Team for his outstanding contribution to community service. Stinchcombin drafted the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 2003 NFL Draft and achieved the NFL’s ultimate goal as a member of the 2010 New Orleans Saints Super Bowl XLIV Championship.
