NRL 2021, expansion, 17th team, Dolphins granted club license to join NRL in 2023

The dolphins will become the 17th NRL team to enter the Telstra Premier League from 2023, when they are licensed in a historic announcement by the ARL Commission on Wednesday.

The NRL Telstra Premier League will expand to 26 rounds of competition as part of Dolphins ’participation, with each team continuing with 24 matches in the regular season.

The total number of regular season matches will increase from 192 to 204 and the teams will receive two throws.

Today is an exciting moment in the history of our game. The NRL Telstra Premier League will expand to 17 teams in 2023, and on behalf of the Commission, I would like to congratulate The Dolphins on obtaining the 17th license, ARLC President Peter V’landys said.

I would also like to thank and thank the other bidding groups for the work they have done on their deliveries. All three offers were of the highest quality and highlighted the strength of the Queensland rugby league.

Vlandys said expanding the game in Queensland is vital to the long-term growth of the sport.

The Rugby League is part of Queenslands DNA, and the strengthening of four teams based in Queensland will further strengthen our game as the number one sport in the state, he said.

The key to long-term success is growth. By growing the NRL Telstra Premiership, we will get more fans, encourage more participants and increase commercial investment in the rugby league.

Enlargement is also a really important part of our participation strategy. The license is conditional on dolphins spending $ 2 million each year to participate and raise the game for women in Southeast Queensland. Next year, we will focus on revitalizing our participation strategy, and Dolphins are an important part of Queensland’s strategy.
