LONDON: Chris Jordan says England 2016 World Twenty20’s last heartache against the West Indies made them a stronger team as Eoin Morgans ’side seeks redemption in this year’s tournament.

England had one hand ahead of the Kolkata trophy before Carlos Brathwaite crushed Ben Stokes for four consecutive six in a row to win the match on the Caribbean side.

Three years later, England became world champions in more than 50 formats, and they are this year’s favorites at the T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman on Sunday.

Jordan conceded just eight runs in the second to final of the 2016 final, when West India needed 19 out of six balls bowled by Stokes, and he urged himself because he thought prematurely that the game was over.

I will never take myself to that place again, said the 33-year-old sailor.

I’m definitely not going to think this way after bowling on the 19th until it’s completely over. We used to laugh at it now, but we definitely got stronger as a whole.

I wouldn’t say it bothered us too much. Someone has to become a winner, and for that kind of thing to happen one last time, you can’t write it.

Jordan believes England, the top-ranked T20 party, is now making clearer decisions in crisis situations, which he said helped during the winning 2019 World Cup campaign.

The team was on autopilot, he said. In all situations, you found the game slowing down a bit and everyone made a conscious and right decision.
