XC competes in the Bradley “Pink” Classic

MILWAUKEE Marquette University’s men’s and women’s ski teams head to Peoria, Illinois for the Bradley “Pink” Classic on Friday, Oct. 15. The competition will be held at Newman Golf Course.

This is the Golden Eagles ’eighth race in the Bradley“ Pink ”Classic and the first time since 2019. In 2019, MU men finished fourth and women fifth.

The meeting starts at 1.30pm with the women’s 6k white race followed by the men’s 8k white race at 2.15pm. 45 pm

The Marquette men’s and women’s ski teams will wear their gold suits this Friday in support of University President Dr. Michael R. Lovell and his family. Lovell announced in early September that he had been diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare cancer. Gold is the primary color used to raise awareness of the disease and helps promote community among people whose lives have been affected by sarcoma.

“I think the person in athletics – student athletes, coaches and staff – we’ve all felt Dr. Lovell’s incredible support for us on a daily basis,” the CEOBill Schollsaid. “This is simply another way to tell him and his family that they will receive support throughout this journey.”

LAST TIME:

On October 2, at the Live in Lou Classic, the women of the Marquette Golden Eagles placed 22nd out of 44 teams in the 5k gold race. In the men’s 8k gold competition, the MU men finished 28th out of 36 teams.

Junior Kendall -frfrimmer led the women’s team at 17: 46.6 and finished 66th on the 399 runner field.

Five of the 13 MU women’s runners set personal records in the Live in Lou Classic (5k). Lexi Keppler (20: 26.1), Mallory Lafever (18: 54.9), Emily Noone (18: 52.9), Anna Penzkover (18: 56.0) and Marissa Valentini(19: 13.0) all achieved Louisville’s personal records.

For men, Dan Weizeorick reached first in the MU men, in 116th place and reached a new personal record at 25: 03.9.

Austin Burke (25:47), Patrick hetlage (25: 40.9) and David Zeller (25: 22.3) also set personal records in the Live in Lou Classic.

Second year student Kate Jochims: “Bradley’s meeting is a great course, it’s a pretty flat course. I’m excited to hopefully have a good 6k.”

Junior Kendall -frfrimmer: “This is my last competition until the conferences. So now is my last chance to put all the pieces together and get in a good position physically and mentally before the conference. When we move from 5,000 to 6,000, it’s a good practice for the conference and get used to it or a four-minute race. “

NEXT:

After Friday’s meeting, both teams will prepare to compete in the Illini Open on Friday, October 22nd.
