Reilly’s Brace, Weber’s game winner Powers OU Past KU

NORMAN The University of Oklahoma national football team returned to the winning column on Thursday night and won the Kansas 3-2 home team in front of John Crain Field.

Freshman Leonie Weber made the home team’s keeper look foolish as he easily reduced the lead to make it 3 – 1 86 minutes into the match Bri Amos. Senior Meg Reilly ignored the flanks in favor of their ability to attack in the middle.

“I knew we had a really tough game that challenged,” head coach Mark Carr said. “This group has just shown faith and commitment all along and not wavering. I think you’ll notice tonight’s performance against the Kansas team coming in with two rankings from West Virginia and Baylor. So we can hit a team at this level feel good.”

Reilly got things early earlier (5-9-1) and found the back of the net at the top of the feed head. Olivia Odlen Corner.

Jayhawks (7-9-1) struck back after 24 minutes, when Brie Severns broke through on the right. Nikki Panas even a match.

Reilly replied to Sooners in the 57th minute and changed the penalty when an error occurred in the freshman’s draw. Ella Pappas.

The match went back and forth Kansas leveled the score after 62 minutes when Raena Childers broke through on the right.

Amos’s Weber put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 86 minutes, but the ball went wide.

“I thought we were in control,” Carr added. “Other times I thought we were a little careless about the goals we handed over, from which we can learn. But this team always scores goals and we had great performances from people tonight.

“It’s just nice to go back to the profit column and get the first conference win. We have a job to do and we need to recover and prepare for Sunday.”

The Sooners took the lead in the game by taking 19 KUs to 14, while KU took five corner kicks to OU’s four. Panas scored five goals in the OU.

Oklahoma will return to the field on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. CT against Kansas State. The game is available to watch at Bally Sports Oklahoma, and tickets can still be purchased at SoonerSports.com/tickets or at the gate on Game Day.

Sunday’s match is the team’s annual “Pink Game,” which supports breast cancer awareness. Pink hand cutters are available to the first 200 fans of the gate.
