Inside the track to Atlanta on Line No. 11, Kentucky is visiting high-end Georgia

The SEC Championship Pile Place is on the line this Saturday as No. 11 Kentucky travels to Georgia’s No. 1 in the biggest FBS game of the week. Playing time is 3:30 p.m. EDT and will be shown at CBS Sports. ESPN College GameDay is in Athens with both Marty & McGee and SEC Nation performances.

Kentucky is aiming for a 7-0 start for the first time since 1950 and only for the fifth time in history (1910, 1903, 1898), winning its first team since 2007.

The Wildcats beat 42-21 LSU, the most points the UK has ever gotten against the Tigers in a regulatory-length game. Kentucky’s defense forced turnover into first control of the game, and the Wildcats were in a lead they never gave up, and also demanded three stops in the fourth down-conversion attempt.

Defender Will Levis was selected as the offensive player of the Walter Camp Football Foundation of the Week, performing 14/17 with 145 yards and three touches while rushing 75 yards and two goals. Cat Scratches: A Kentucky crime hopes to seize the opportunity

Kentucky will face the biggest challenge of the season so far on Saturday as it faces the best Georgia at Sanford Stadium in Athens.

The mission of the Kentucky attack this week is the country’s top defense. Plan and simple, the Bulldogs have been amazing this year. Georgia only allows 5.5 points per game for the season, which is the country’s first. They only allow 201.2 yards per game, also the first in the country.

Kentucky Attack Coordinator Liam Coen is very impressed with the Bulldogs ’defense.

“A very talented team, very well trained,” Coen said. “(They) play physically, play violently. There’s a reason they’re the country’s best defense, there’s a reason they’re the country’s number one team. They save their tails, it’s a really good test for us.”

Cats in national surveys

Kentucky entered the Associated Press Top 25 on Oct. 3 and rose to 16th place and advanced to 11th place after winning the LSU.
It is the highest AP ranking in the UK since October 28, 2018, when cats were No. 11 after the 7-1 start.
Cats have also moved to 11th place in the USA Today coach survey, the highest ranking since the end of the 2018 season to 11th place.
The UK is also ninth in the Football Writers Association of America / National Football Foundation in the “Super 16” survey.
