Curran fifth after two rounds in Florida

MINNEAPOLIS – Junior Grace Curran turned the day in the low Gopher round 1 under the age of 71 when the Minnesota women’s golf team finished at the second round of the Pat Bradley Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club in Lakewood, Florida.

As a team, the Gophers released in the second round 5 over 295 and are currently fifth. A two-day total of 581 places them 12 strokes back to director Florida International and 10 strokes second to Boston College.

“Today we started together slowly and had to spend most of the round against the fight, which we did a solid job of,” head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. “Conditions were much tighter today, and I’m happy with the way we deal with it. We’ll start charging tomorrow and see if we get a win for the Gophers!”

Curran is fifth after 36 holes. He started the day with a bird bike on the fourth hole and a bogie on the sixth to be on a steady lap. Another birdie in the 13th hole put him in a 1-under-a-day and 3-over tournament (70-71–141).

Jumping ten places in a single leaderboard was Joanne free, now exactly ninth. After an equal opening round, Free continued his strong performance in today’s second round from 1 to under 71. His four birds led the team in the second round.

Geraldine Wong ended the day exactly 21. (70-77–147) after a 5-over second round. After shooting a 3-hit in front of nine, he left with a 2-hit in the back. Junior Leah Herzog has three strokes behind Wong exactly 36. (74-75–150) and Emma Carpenter isolates the assembly exactly 67. (76-81–157).

The Pat Bradley Invitational ends Monday with a shotgun that begins at 7:45 a.m. CT.
