No. 7 Women’s golf scores sixth at the Stanford Intercollegiate

STANFORD, California The No. 7 Texas women’s golf team recorded Sunday’s under-278 on Sunday and finished sixth at the Stanford Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course. Senior Sara Kouskova boosted Longhorn in second place in individual rankings 12-under-201 (68-67-66).

Texas, which finished 16th in the team result after Friday’s opening round, jumped ninth after Saturday’s second round and improved three more places in Sunday’s last 18 holes. Longhorns finished the tournament 6-over-par 858 (303-277-278). UT recorded a draw for the second lowest team point on Sunday, which is No. 21 in the state of San Jose and number 1 after Stanford in just one stroke (277).

Stanford Intercollegiate’s 17-team field included seven teams ranked in an updated Division I Muzuno WGCA coach survey (October 15), including host No. 1 Stanford, No. 5 Oregon, No. 7 Texas, No. 15 UCLA, No. 18 Georgia, No. 20 State of Arizona and No. 21 State of San Jose.

“Our team showed a lot of struggle this week,” the Texas head coach Ryan Murphy said. “Rounds two (277) and three (278) were very strong. I’m proud of the women that they came back after our slow start. Sara (Kouskova) played a great tournament. Most of the years, her score (201) to win. She had a sensational start to the end, especially today. I’m proud of Sara! ”

Host Stanford grabbed the team championship with a 54-hole total of 28-under-824 (273-274-277). No. 21 San Jose State ranked second with 6-under-846 (283-285-278), while No. 15 UCLA ranked third with 1-under-par 851 (290-280-281). Stanford’s Rose Zhang won personal medals 16-under-197 (65-65-67), four strokes ahead of Kouskova.

Kouskova shared the college’s best 18-hole score in the final round of 66 on Sunday. 66 corresponded to the best 18-hole score of his career, set in the opening round of the Schooner Fall Classic during the first year of 2018-19. His three laps total of 201 was the second lowest 54-hole score in school history, just two strokes off the record (199) Sophie Guo At the White Sands Invitational for the 2019-20 season.

• Sara Kouskova posted a 5-under-pair 66 on Sunday and finished second in a single-place finish with a 54-hole score of 12-under-201 (68-67-66). • Junior Sophie Guo registered the pair on 71 on Sunday to level 36th in 6-over-par 219 (79-69-71). Guo improved by 15 points on the scoreboard during the final round.
• Freshman Bohyun Park shot 3-under-par 68 in Sunday’s final round and leveled 41st in 7-over-par 220 (79-73-68). Park jumped 22 points on the scoreboard during the final round. He also recorded his first collegiate hole-in-one pens, annoying his mother in the 150-yard hole # 4.
• A freshman on his college debut tour Tiffany Cao ranked 8th over 79 pairs on Sunday and ranked 81st 24 over 237 (79-79-79).
