Beth Mead hits hat trick at Wembley as England crushes in Northern Ireland World Cup qualifier

England won the Northern Ireland World Cup qualifier at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night 4-0 as Beth Mead grabbed the hat trick.

As the 74 minute approached, the Sarina Wiegman coach decided it was time for a substitution. It only took 14 minutes to complete a three-goal throw to ease all the nerves his teammates might have felt at first with a slim goal.

The other team, Bethany England, added another goal to the home team.

Speaking after the game, Wiegman praised Mead, saying, “Of course he feels good that we can see.

“I’m really happy for the team that he scored three goals, and especially for him. The players feel comfortable so the players can shine. He started to shine when he came, so he did a really good job.

Mead have scored four goals in their last three international matches.

“He’s in a very good place right now and it’s clear he’s a good football player. He feels really good and showed it on the field and does it with practice and with Arsenal,” Wiegman continued.

“That’s what you need to get to a higher level and win matches. No matter who scores the goal, we just have to score goals, so when you take on a new player, you might do something different and then it’s really nice to get a score.”

England will face Latvia in their next match on Tuesday.
