Jan Hoffelner deserves a ninth clean sheet in a draw with South Carolina

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Goalkeeper Jan Hoffelner leveled the season’s high fight on his way to his ninth season break and anchored No. 4 in Kentucky’s undefeated draw with South Carolina after two overtime on a rainy Saturday night in Lexington.

As a result, the Wildcats move 9-0-4 overall and 2-0-4 in Conference USA. Gamecocks goes 5-7-2 (1-3-2 C-USA).

Saturday’s goalless goal wasn’t due to a lack of opportunity, as Kentucky shot at least 20 shots just a second time in the entire season. Cats defeated South Carolina 20-16 overall, including 13-5 in the first half. But Gamecocks ended the match with an 11-7 advantage, while the teams each received five attempts in the frame.

Hoffelner’s five fights were his most since he debuted in the UK. 25 Coastal Carolina on August 26, which also led to a stalemate 0-0.
