WORCESTER, Massachusetts (AP) The Westcester hockey team began its season by watching rival diner Joey Chestnut eat a dozen 4-inch blueberry pies in 90 seconds.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that Chestnut was invited to attend a party for the first game of the Worcester Railers season on Saturday night at DCU. Last season was canceled due to a coronavirus pandemic.

Chestnut ate a dozen local Table Talk blueberry pies, which easily improved competition. Local media and fans competed in four two-person teams, including the Telegram & Gazette team. Two fans, Ken Allard and Tim Houle, came closest to Chestnut and ate a total of seven pies.

Worcester defeated the Maine Mariners in front of a crowd of 4-3 10,508 people, the second largest audience in franchise history.

Chestnut won men’s Nathan’s famous hot dog food competition for the 14th time in July. He dropped 76 francs and buns in 10 minutes.
