Swiatek, Badosa will debut at the WTA Finals next month

Polish Iga Swiatek and Spanish Paula Badosa will debut in the WTA final next month after reserving their place in the season finale in Guadalajara, Mexico, the women’s tour said on Monday.

Swiatek, last year’s French Open champion, played at least a fourth round of each of the four majors in 2021 and simultaneously won two WTA championships this season.

The 20-year-old is the first Polish woman to have played in the WTA finals since Agnieszka Radwanskan in 2016.

Badosa, 23, has had a breakthrough season in 2021, winning Titles in Belgrade and Indian Wells and achieving Roland Garros ’best Grand Slam performance in the quarterfinals.

Badosa has risen to the highest place in his career at 13th, and in Guadalajara from 10th to 17th. in the November tournament with him is compatriot and double main winner Garbine Muguruza.

The finals, in which the world’s top eight doubles players and eight doubles teams competed, were moved from Shenzhen, China after last year’s event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
