KARACHI: Pairs Saim Adnan and Arsalan Alvi overtook Aahil Shah and Kaif Raza 3-1 to get the men’s doubles crown in the eighth Prof Dr Essa Mohammad Abdullah ranking table tennis tournament at the Sindh Sports Board (SSB) sports center on Tuesday. .
The winning pair played in the finals 11-9, 12-10, 9-11, 12-10.
The women’s doubles title went to Haiqa Hasan and Hoor Fawad, who defeated Sadia Raheel and Hareem Anwar directly in the 11-7, 11-5, 11-7 title match.
Top placed Hareem Anwar filled his bill when he won fourth place to Maria Tazeme 11-5, 8-11, 11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 11-8 to reach the women’s singles final.
He faces undocumented Farah Salman, who sent third place in Aisha Yusuf’s packs 11-5, 11-6, 2-11, 11-5, 11-9 in the second semi-final.
Meanwhile, top investor Saim is on his way to doubles as he had reached the men’s singles final and won fourth place in the quarterfinals with Noman Zara 13-11, 12-10, 11-6, 7-11, 11-4. -final.
A second semifinal between the third placed Arsalan and the unseeded Aahil was underway at the time of submitting this report.
