Year 8 Cricket Update Craighead

Craighead’s 8-year-old cricket team has had a very successful two days in Christchurch competing in the Canterbury regional playoffs from NZ Cricket Shield. Against Christchurch South Intermediate first, Craighead limited them to 70 runs with excellent bowling, Libby Brown 1/4 and Sienna Wright 1/7. They supported Aaly on the field with well-executed Linton & Brown runs. Camryn Linton introduced her class with a racket, 46 runs didn’t end, Meg Ritchie backed him with 5 in the third wicket partnership, sealing their first win in the 16th round.

In the afternoon, they faced Heaton Intermediate, who has been the national champion for the past few years. Heaton went to the beat first and their opening started well, but the girls rushed and their teamwork on the field meant they took all eight business cards with four great exits and four catches, Alice Orbell beat 1/11 and Camryn, who was involved. in all the first five doors. This was the first time in many games, but Heaton has played completely, and a total of 120 chases were difficult. Craighead had a rough start and was 3/13 out of three moves before Sophie Kelly came to wrinkle. Sophie signed a partnership with free goal scorer Camryn Linton, which almost got the girls home. Craighead pushed to the end of the defensive championship with four cards still in his hand. Camryn eventually got an impressive 54, not Sophie 24, when the partnership was finally broken by a great catch by Heaton.

The final game was played against Waimea Intermediate, who won the throw and selected the field. Camryn Linton once again led by an impressive 60 retirees. He was supported by Sophie, who retired at the age of 8, and Jess Skinner, who did not retire at the age of 22, for a total of 123 in our three 20 rounds. After a slow start, bowlers started the match when Charlotte Connolly took three business cards, Sophie 2 two business cards and one goal, and Jess Skinner and Sienna Wright each scored one goal. Lulu O’Sullivan’s two prey behind the stump ended a very neat week of the week. Waimea was all out on the 18th past. Although the girls finished second after Heaton, they certainly left their mark with many comments from Canterbury supporters who want to see them compete at the girls ’cricket festival on the South Island.

The most impressive on this side is in February, when the competition began, only two of the girls played cricket. Jaime Linton is honored for her coaching, guidance, and faith in this awesome group of girls. Six of them have moved on to the new Pleasant Point girls ’cricket team, which plays in a local Saturday magic race against the boys.
