Preliminary Round: Camas singles, Union doubles won 4A two-district boys tennis championships

Three doubles players and one doubles team will represent Clark County at the 4A State Boys Tennis Tournament in May.

Of these players, Camas ’Tommy James and Union double team Jacob Flentke and James Bertheau are among the best seeds after winning the Titles in a similar 4A two-district tournament on Saturday at the Boeing Tennis Center in Kent.

James won their doubles final match from Kentridge’s Timothy Tran 6-1, 6-2, while Flentke and Bertheau beat doubles Decatur’s Luke Dalrymple and Andy Kim 6-1, 6-2.

Flentke and Bertheau dropped just four games in the tournament.

Camas ’Aiden Brasier defeated Union Rohan Thawan 6-2, 6-1 and took fifth place. By being ranked in the top eight, both get into the state.

Camas won the two-district team title.

3A BI CIRCUIT – Prairie senior Elijah Nelson is going to the 3A state tennis tournament in May as a seed after winning the 3A two-district title on Saturday at Sprinker Tennis Center in Kent.

Details of Saturday’s matches were not told.

Even with the state pier locked, Mountain View’s Trey Gillespie and Jeffrey Tso finished fourth in the doubles.

Slowpitch softball

Kelso was short on his bid for the 3A / 2A state championship on Saturday in Yakima.

Well. 2 seed Hilanders lost in championship number 4 at the University of Spokane 26-11.

RA Long was eliminated in third place in the semifinals of Hermiston, Ore., 11-10.

Battle Ground finished fourth in the state 4A tournament. Well. The 8-seed Tigers, who eliminated Moses Lake in the 17-16 third-place finals on Saturday, lost to West Valley Yakima 28-5 in the third-place finals.

Well. 1 seed Chiawana won the No. 7 Central Valley of Spokane 13-12 4A championship.
