Cricket-Kohli is optimistic despite India’s “strange” surrender

DUBAI (Reuters) – India captain Virat Kohli has blamed his team’s timid approach to their “strange” defeat in Sunday’s Twenty20 World Cup against New Zealand, but has not given up hopes of reaching the semifinals of the tournament.

India dropped to fifth in Group II after their second consecutive defeat in the Super 12 stage, and winning even the three remaining matches doesn’t guarantee a place in the last four.

“Pretty weird,” depressed Kohli said when New Zealand hit them at eight doors at Dubai International Stadium.

“I thought we had to be very cruel beforehand. I don’t think we were brave enough with a racket or a ball.

India succeeded in scoring 110-7, with New Zealand playing with 33 balls and losing just two innings.

– We obviously didn’t have much to play with the ball. But we just weren’t brave enough in our body language when we came on the field, Kohli said.

– In New Zealand, body language had that intensity, and they put pressure on us from the beginning and continued it in shifts.

India changed the best order of the match with Ishan Kishan joining KL Rahul in the left and right opening combination, while Rohit Sharma dropped to third.

India still fell to 48-4 in the 11th installment and could never recover from it.

“Every time we felt like we wanted to take a risk, we lost the gate,” nine goals successful Kohli said.

“That’s what happens in T20 cricket, but it’s mostly the result of hacking the racket when you feel like you should go short or not.”

Kohli will resign as India’s 20-year-old captain after the tournament, and the 32-year-old said he remains optimistic about their chances.

“There’s only one way to play T20 cricket – you have to be optimistic, positive and take considered risks. That’s what this format is about. ”

“I think we’ll make it. There’s a lot of cricket in this tournament and something we all have to wait for.

“Of course, the team has to wait with enthusiasm and leave with a positive mind.”

While India’s batting hasn’t snapped in the tournament, their bowling unit has hardly managed to better manage two visits out of two matches.
