Chiefs-Giants quick response: KC “controls” Monday Night Football victory

The Kansas City Chiefs managed to defeat The giants of New York, 20-17, in the 8th edition of the week Monday night football.

“Managed” happens to be the keyword of the evening, which is a problem in Kansas City Super Bowl-or-chest-aspirations – and the hopes of their opponent, who at this point would call it a successful season with eight wins. While the result is undeniably better than what could have been a much darker option, the truth is that the rest of the Chiefs ’schedule no longer includes the humble NFC East teams they can beat.

The next batch of three games is 5-2 Las Vegas Raiders a team that has gotten new life since Jon Gruden’s departure, between the two top three NFC teams 7-1. Green Bay Packers first and 6-1 Dallas Cowboys last before greetings.

“Managed” was a good Monday night; it’s the last time it’s enough before the break.

Defense

Security Daniel Sorensen remains responsible for insurance coverage. Opponents have said that if Sorensen is left alone, it’s time to attack – and they will. Line defender Ben Niemann was exploited in contact with tight-lipped Kyle Rudolph, and corner defender L’Jarius Sneed had a few flaws, including slipping on the lawn, leading to a Giants victory in the fourth quarter.

All that was mentioned, the Steve Spagnuolo crew did their job overall.

The Giants were 4/12 with a third loss and scored just 17 points. Second-year linebacker Willie Gay shone with listening in the evening, and his presence – along with novice mate Nick Bolton – has given the defense a whole new perspective on the second level, and their game has infiltrated the entire unit. This part is coming true: Chris Jones needs his primary role shifted back to a defensive tackle position. Jones ’quarterback hits – including the game’s closing sack – came from games where he was lined up inside.

The defensive work was far from perfect on Monday night, but given the team’s offensive structure, what we saw should always be good enough.

Criminal

Where would the Chiefs have been on Monday night without Tyreek Hill’s rare athleticism?

As the Giants did what the teams have done in defense all season on Monday night – taking away a deep ball – the Chiefs had to play in between.

The last offensive game provided a step in the right direction as New York helped with unpunished penalties.

Masters succeeded victory over the Giants on Monday night, but except against two games Denver Broncos, the rest of the schedules face them against opponents where under control not simply cut it.

The Chiefs narrowly escaped from Arrowhead Stadium with the best possible win, but claiming the team has “returned” in any way would be a big exaggeration. Despite this victory, their hopes are too high for the product they put on the field.
