Remove big names, bring young people along: Kapil Dev tells BCCI | Cricket news

NEW DELHI: Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev has said he would be proud if India survived on his performance and would not wait for the results of other matches to get a rating in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE.
India Kohl-led India has won strongly in both of its Super 12 Group 2 matches, and even if it wins the remaining three matches, starting with the match against Afghanistan 4. November, their entry into the semifinals will depend on Net Run Rate (NRR) calculations and the results of some other group games that favor them.

“If we succeed on the basis of some other teams, Indian cricket has never appreciated it. If you want to win the world championship or get to the semifinals, do it with your own strengths. It’s better not to trust other teams,” Kapil told ABP News on Wednesday.
The former cricketer added that it is time for the Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) to make tough decisions against the team’s seniors.

“I think appellants have to decide on the future of big names and big actors,” Kapil said, and hinted that non-performers should be shown the door and replaced with new faces.
India’s humiliating losses to Pakistan 10 and New Zealand in two “Super 12” games at eight doors have put them on the verge of falling.

“They (BCCI voters) need to think about whether it’s time for very successful young people in the IPL to give them a chance? How do we make the next generation better? If they lose, there’s no harm because they benefit But if these big players don’t perform now and play so bad cricket, there will be a lot of criticism. BCCI needs to address the issue and consider bringing more young people in, “Kapil added.
