“It was scary,” Zimmer said in a statement to the media in the team’s regular planned press on Wednesday.
“One of our players who had been vaccinated had to go to the emergency room last night because of Covid,” Zimmer said Wednesday. “I mean, it’s a serious matter.”
When Zimmer was asked for an update on the player’s condition, he said, “he’s stable now” and is still in the hospital.
“He had a hard time breathing,” Zimmer said.
The coach added that about “29 guys” who were in close contact are now being tested, “including me.”
Dozier was placed on the reserve / Covid-19 list about five days ago. The list is intended for a player who has a positive test result or who has been in close contact with an infected person.
There are four other players on the team on this list: Harrison Smith, Garrett Bradbury, Ryan Connelly and Timon Parris.
