The Florida football team has finally returned to the winning column for the first time since their home game beat Vanderbilt on Oct. 9. Despite the disappointing defense, the Gators cut the losing streak of three games, winning 70-52. Against Samford on Saturday.

Shootout in the Swamp: Florida Gators vs. Samford Bulldogs
The first half
The first two quarters were marked by ample back and forth scoring with the Bulldogs. More importantly, at halftime, Florida’s defense failed. The Gators handed over 42 points to Samford in the first half, the highest number allowed in Florida in program history.
Playmaker Emory Jones started at Gators and completed his career. Jones completed 464 yards and six touchdowns from 28/34 passes. He also ran 86 yards and one goal. In total, Jones made seven touchdowns and made 550 yards for the first time in his career.

Nevertheless, the Gators drove the Bulldogs 42-35 at halftime.
Second half
The Gators started the second half with a more energetic performance. Florida opened the throw Dameon Pierce To smooth out a 49-yard touchdown 42-42. Pierce ran seven times for 78 yards and three goals.
