These high standards mean the All Blacks have difficult questions after Ireland lost on Saturday 29-20. The exciting competition in Dublin was Ireland’s third victory over Kiwi in the parties ’previous five encounters.

It comes after nice wins against the US, Wales and Italy had lifted New Zealand back to the top of the world list by handing out the top spot to South Africa, which won the All Blacks rugby championship in the final game earlier this year.

Focus on France

Foster moved from Steve Hansen as All Blacks head coach after the 2019 World Cup after serving as assistant coach since 2012.

His goal as head coach, he said, has been to create an environment that is “fun,” but also where “every day you have to get out and you have to try to be the best.”

“When I became a coach about 10 years ago, it was pretty intense,” Foster explains.

“You walk into an environment where you know expectations are incredibly high; it’s an environment that can stifle you because you have to win and you have to perform well.”

After the defeat against Ireland, All Blacks once again lost their place at the top of the men’s world list for South Africa – although the desire to be number one in the world is only part of what motivates the team’s players.

“Clearly we want to be the best team in the world,” said Barrett, who withdrew from Saturday’s match against Ireland after failing to assess the head injury.

“To be honest, even if we were number one, we would probably still feel – or have the same desire or desire – to be the best we can be.”

All Blacks captain and second-line Sam Whitelock’s approach to the game always starts with his own performance.

“I know that if I go out and play myself really well, I can help the team,” Whitelock told CNN Sport. “So I look at it individually first.

“I don’t think we lack motivation at all,” Foster said. – Our older players and managers are injured and are already starting to think about our plan for this week.
