UND unveils new alternative home hockey shirts

UND unveiled alternative home jerseys on Wednesday morning.

They are white and have “NODAK” diagonally on the front. There is a green stripe on the bottom of the T-shirt and two on the arms. The number is only shown on the back. The Fighting Hawk logos are on the shoulders.

This jersey is reminiscent of the shirt worn by the team in the 1950s. They were also white and said “Sioux” diagonally in front.

Alternative home shirts are paired with green pants and green helmets. The helmet also has the text “NODAK”. The National Collegiate Hockey Conference logo will be above the nameplate on the back. They are made by Adidas.

UND has not yet said when they will use them for the first time, but that is not a one-time affair.

UND has long had two different jerseys for road games.

It features a traditional green leotard and alternative black leotards.

Green sweaters are the most commonly used. Fighting Hawks often distribute black jerseys for big games or when a team is missing a win.

The traditional white sweater, which reads “North Dakota” in front of it and the number between the two words, is most often used. But like black jerseys, UND divides alternative white jerseys into special events, big games, or perhaps just when a team needs a win.

Siouxshop.com is expected to start selling alternative shirts this week.

This is the second unveiling of UND’s jersey this season.

It wore special green jerseys in a match against Penn State in Nashville in October. They were similar to the jerseys used by UND in 1994. The Nashville jerseys were one-off, special event shirts. They are not intended to be reused.
