4 things: Takeaways from the Minnesota Wilds, a slow loss to the Sharks

Minnesota Wild hit the stinker San Jose Sharks on tuesday, i lost 4-1 and never looked really good. Anyway, here are 4 things about the game.

1 Joel Eriksson The wrong goal went back to the only wild goal.

Outside Eriksson’s sensational hat-trick game, the Wilds Center only scored two goals in 13 matches before Tuesday. Not exactly the amount you want from one of your best players, but certainly not the team’s most touching goal scoring option (Oops, Kaprizov). Well, against Sharks, he recovered from a bad shot that hit James Reimer cleanly through his legs as it just hung around Tomas Hertl.

Eriksson Ek appeared on cue near the post, and steered it past the goalie. After tying the highest goal shots of the season with four 24-year-old players, all attempts forced Reimer to fight, and they were also of sufficient quality. Maybe it’s a sign of upcoming events or a mere coincidence, but given that he’s moved from Kaprizov in the lineup and is now paired with Kevin Fiala as a threat of attack, Eriksson Ek gets more chances in the future.

2 Matt Dumba came to play in the redemption of the previous draw.

Dumba was undoubtedly the victim of a donation to the worst-timed Minnesotan player this season as he turned the puck, which was eventually made the winning goal in Vegas. It wasn’t great, and he got a little unfair remark from this crowd of fans.

Honestly, they were unlucky when they failed to score in the end of this series, when the second Intermission ended, and they were still unlucky when Sharks scored their fourth goal in a deadly game. Sometimes it just works out that way, but Wildin is also easier to offend when they fall with multiple goals and time ticking (ah, goal-making effects) and maybe sharks just let their feet off the gas. , especially given that they were under control for so damn long.

4 It’s early to look at investments, but …

Before the 4-1 loss to the home team, Wild was at the top of Central and felt very good (I assume). But now that those two points have been taken away from them and although still a very good 10-5-0 record, there is cause for concern in the future. The Winnipeg Jets are now ahead of them and though Nashville Predators exceed their forecasts and St. Louis Blues are right there, Colorado Avalanche is certainly much better than their current 6-5-1 record and sixth place in the division.

Could Wild be down a slippery slope if the percentages don’t work in their favor? Well yeah probably. In the next 10 games they will face Tampa Bay Lightning twice, Florida Panthersand the two best Canadian teams Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers. If all goes the way we want, we can watch .500 Minnesota teams before the holiday season. I hope I’m wrong and just in a pessimistic mood.
