Gamecocks will host Auburn in the SEC Finals on Saturday

The 2021 Southeast Conference presentation will end in South Carolina as the first year’s head coach Shane Beamer and his Gamecocks (5-5, 2-5 SEC) host Bryan Harsin and the Auburn Tigers (6-4, 3-3 SEC) on Saturday, Nov. 20. LITTLE HISTORY: 2021 marks the 128th inter-university football season at the University of South Carolina until 1892. It is the 115th consecutive year that South Carolina has competed in the grid. The university did not form a team in 1893 or 1906. Carolina holds an all-time record of 619-600-44, 0.508 percent profit.

IT MEANS MORE: Season 2021 is the 30th anniversary of South Carolina at the Southeast Conference. South Carolina and Arkansas joined the league before the 1992 campaign. Gamecocks earned the SEC Eastern Division title in the 2010 season. ).

CAROLINA vs. ABURN: This is the 14th all-time meeting between South Carolina and Auburn and the second consecutive year the two teams have met on the grid. The Tigers have a 10-2-1 advantage in the all-time series, including a 3-1 record when the games are played in Columbia and 4-0 when the teams have faced Auburn. The teams have also played in a neutral spot five times, with Auburn having a 3-1-1 advantage in these competitions, including the 2010 SEC Championship game. The teams met for four consecutive years in 1930-1933, but did not meet until 1996. The teams have played nine times as opponents of the SEC, and Auburn won the first eight of these competitions.

The last time they met: Gamecocks forced three abductions of Bo Nix, including the first two Jaycee HornCarolina shocked the 15/14 Auburn Tigers, 30-22, in Columbia on October 17, 2020. Auburn dominated the team stats and collected 481 yards in 83 games compared to just 297 yards in 67 games. Gamecocks, but three selections (all leading to a touchdown) and a solid red zone defense helped Carolina get out of an early 9-0 deficit. The Walter Camp Football Foundation selected Horn as the national defensive player of the week for his efforts.

THERE WAS A MOMENT: When Gamecocks knocked out Auburn last season, it marked their first win over the Tigers since 1933. The win also cut an eight-game losing streak in the all-time series with Auburn.

SOUNDS FAMILIAR: Gamecocks beat Auburn by 30-22 in 2020, when it defeated the Tigers for the first time since 1933. In 2005, South Carolina overtook Florida with the same 30-22 result, which was Gamecocks’ first win over Gators since 1939. These are the only two 30-22 profit in school history.

IT HAPPENED BEFORE: Led by sixth-year head coach Billy Laval, Gamecocks traveled to Birmingham on December 2, 1933 to face national power in the finals of the Auburn season. Earl Clary was a hero, facing the Auburn runner in the finish line to a 2-0 lead at the start, then competing for 56 yards to get a second-season score at 9-0 at halftime. SWEET HOME ALABAMA: Gamecocks will list four players from Yellowhammer State on their 2021 list. Second year receiver Eric Shaw hailing from Reeltown, about 30 miles west of the Auburn campus. Freshman wide receiver Sam Reynolds is from Alabaster and played for Thompson High. A freshman attacking a lineman JonDarius Morgan is from Birmingham and graduated from Hoffman High School. Defensive side of the freshman La’Dareyen Craig attended Baker High School on Mobile.

SHE LOOKS ON FIRE: Auburn Attack Coordinator Mike Bobo spent 2020 in Columbia as Gamecocks attack coordinator and quarterback coach under head coach Will Muschamp. He took over as interim head coach after Muschamp was fired and was 0-3 in that role. He stayed with him for a while Shane Beamer, before casting a lottery with Bryan Harsin in Auburn.

BUT SAYS HE IS JUST A FRIEND: Auburn offensive line coach Will Friend was very briefly on Shane Beamern first coaching staff in South Carolina, joined the staff on December 27, 2020, prior to lane change and joining Mike Bobo Auburn’s offensive headquarters.

SHARED HOUSE: Wes Todd he worked in the media relations staff in South Carolina for a three-year period before moving on to Auburn SID staff as deputy director. She is married to a former Lauren Quickin, Carolina grad. In fact, the two got married in the chapel at the University of Horseshoe in South Carolina.

DID YOU KNOW ?: Only two of Carolina’s 12 opponents this season currently have a record loss.

LAST TIME: Tyler Badie completed 209 yards and touchdowns 34 times, and the Missouri Tigers won the 31-28 CoMo last Saturday to keep the Mayor’s Cup in Missouri for another year. Jason Brown started his second game as a quarterback at Gamecocks and went 16-30 193 yards with two touchdowns and a cut. Gamecocks only collected 57 yards on the ground and a total of 250 yards, but they turned three Tiger laps, two in the final period, into 21 points to keep the race tight. Corner Cam Smith led the defense with 10 tackles, including nine stops alone, and an abduction.

LONG RIDING: Gamecocks made 13 games, a 75-yard touchdown run that took 7:50 a.m., culminating in a 26-yard finish. Jason Brown towards Josh Vann in the second quarter in Missouri. It was the longest goal-scoring time of the season in Carolina in terms of game control time and the longest since the 2017 Tennessee match when Carolina took 9:12 off the clock.

USES LEAD TO POINTS: Gamecocks made three wins from Missouri and turned all three into touches. Cam Smith and Brad Johnson both intercepted feeds when Marcellas dial forced and restored brawl. Two of the three gave Carolina a ball in the plus range, and the attack was able to take advantage every time.

THIS IS OUR BALL: Gamecock’s defense has been excellent in forcing rounds throughout the season. They have won at least two wins in eight of their 10 matches (EIU-2; ECU-2; UGA-3; UK-3; Troy-4; UT-0; A & M-1; UF-2; MU- 3). During the season, South Carolina has made 22 transfers – 14 disconnections and the return of eight explosions. It is the first in the SEC and the fifth in the turnover achieved by the NCAA in the fifth of the four semifinals. Gamecocks finished 14th in the SEC in the first place and fifth in the six-draw draw in the country.

THE BEST ATTACK IS GOOD DEFENSE: The Gamecock defense has scored four goals this season, three in scoring and one in scoring. Jordan Burch picked up the feed and rumbled 61 yards in the opening game against Eastern Illinois. TAKE IT TO THE HOUSE: Gamecocks leads the SEC and is fifth in a three-draw draw nationally with four defensive points behind Nevada (6), Ohio State (6), Appalachian State (5) and UTSA (5). TD’s three intercepted returns are third in the NCAA after the Appalachian State (5) and the state of Ohio (4) and are the highest in Carolina since 2010 (5).

WE ARE RUNNING OTHERWISE: Gamecocks have logged 297 captured return yards this season with 14 selections, just 47 yards away from the 1984 record of 344 return yards in which the team cut 23 assists. The 297 yards captured are the second highest in the NCAA this season, behind only the Appalachian State 337.

THERE ARE SAYS THAT IT IS POSSIBLE: Gamecocks has been very good in the fourth quarter, beating their opponents by 74-33 in the final period. They met late to defeat both East Carolina and Vanderbilt at the last minute.

AT FIRST: Gamecocks has started 38 players this season. Nine has started all 10 games, inclusive Eric Douglas, Jovaughn White, and Nick Muse offense and Jabari Ellis, Kingsley Enagbare, Jaylan Foster, Brad Johnson, Zacch Pickens and Aaron Sterling in defense.

YOU GET AND YOU GET AND YOU GET: Gamecocks is the only FBS team in the country to boast three starting game builders winning this season. Both Luke Doty and Zeb Noland has won two starts, though Jason Brown is one win.
