Sherrock and Wright will collide for the second time at this year’s Grand Slam of Darts

Fallon Sherrock is set to continue his history as he faces the world’s 2nd Peter Wright spot in the Grand Slam semi-finals on Saturday night.

“Michael van Gerwen is a born winner. He’s been proving it for several years, but he looks good, doesn’t he? His game against Gary Anderson was a tournament game for me so far.

“It was like a fight before the old days. Ando looked aroused, MVG looked aroused and it went a long way. Sometimes we’ve seen this year – MVG did two great legs, then two very mediocre legs.

“It’s about Fallon mania. Fair play for him, he plays wonderful stuff. Fallon is focused and in the zone.

“Peter Wright’s form has been a bit indifferent, and I think as much as he’s a popular player, fans will support Fallon.

“When he gets a chance, he finishes well, and that’s what darts are all about. I think Peter needs to be seriously involved in the game.

“Fallon just gets himself into his own space and throws a dart. Somehow you can’t go wrong when you do that, but he encounters someone like Peter who isn’t surprised.

“He’s the world champion, the European champion, the UK Open champion, the current World Matchplay champion. He knows he can play better, he knows it’s there and he has it in the tank.

“I choose Wrighty because he has experience with a longer format, but I don’t think he gets it all his own way.

“I think it’s 16-9 or 16-10 for Wrighty, and it’s not a bad performance from Fallon, I just think Peter’s experience in a longer form will help him get a piece between his teeth.”
