Avalanche sinks Kraken under 7-3

It was a wild night at the Colorado Avalanche home Seattle Kraken for the first time. Avs flew most of the game despite the goal and beat Kraken 7-3.

Avs led in the third round 7-0 before lifting their legs off the gas and thanks to some questionable referee decisions. Nonetheless, Avs wins its fourth tube and is hot running back up from the Central Division rankings.

Season 1

Things progressed quickly at the Climate Pledge Arena. Ryan Donato was allowed to take it quickly by the referee, much to the dismay of the goalkeeper who wasn’t prepared. They did just that when Andre Burakovsky grabbed the rebound 1-0 lead.

It seemed that Kraken could get back to it when Sam Girard crossed the ball into the corner of the long defense. In fact, it would be Valeri Nichushkin who would steam down his train as the ice came off and shot viciously into the top corner, giving Avs a 2-0 lead.

Kraken had a chance when Jaden Schwartz rushed to the finish line from his own breakout. Former Avalanche striker Joonas Donskoi struck into a power game as he sought his first goal of the season against his former club. Carson Soucy had a good opportunity to walk sideways at the end of the episode, but he didn’t get the goose egg off the board.

Season 2

After a couple of early Avs situations, Nazem Kadri won a clean face back to Cale Makar, who hit one from the blue line that deviated from Mikko Rantanen’s top shelf and made it 3-0.

However, they were not made there. Jared McCann made a bad rough penalty that led Burakovsky to the second power game of the night and scored 4-0.

It was the end of Chris Driedger’s night, and we saw what we had hoped for: Phillip Grubauer’s return to his former team, unfortunately not in the best conditions for him.

It also didn’t heal for him. When Gabriel Landeskog returned and stopped brilliantly 2-1 for Kraken, Makar rushed into the attack area. He shot one at Grubauer and collected his own rebound into a 5-0 lead.

The goals rained down in Seattle as this time Erik Johnson found his way down the right circle and grabbed one past his former net guard, extending the goal 6-0 and giving Avs a touchdown.

Kiefer Sherwood made nearly seven in the semi-final and earned a penalty kick, which resulted in several additional opportunities that Avs were unable to complete before the end of the period.

Season 3

Things started strangely in the third installment as game commentators got food and eating during the game. They didn’t have much discussion if they got this treatment live.

However, Nick Aube-Kubel would give them something to talk about as he scored his first goal of the season and his first in an Avs suit, making it 7-0.

Kraken would give his fans at least something gratifying. After a stunning penalty by Jayson Megnan, Jordan Eberle scored one blank goal and cut the deadlock 7-1.

After the knee-to-knee blow, Kraken would have more encouragement. Brandon Tanev made his seventh season of his season and makes 7-2.

Despite the wide margin, Kraken had some struggle, and they had several more seats and more tempo than the other. It made Av a little upset. The wide margin would have been a miracle for Kraken to get back into this game.

However, Kraken was not ready yet, as Colin Blackwell scored his first goal of the season, squeezing one post between Kuemper. It scored 7-3 and was the final goal of the evening with this high score happening.

Takeaway

Kadri is still in the spotlight of her redemption tour. With two assists, he continues his points tube, raising it to eight matches by 14 points. When last season ended for him, he’s doing everything right so far this young season. Makar and Burakovsky also scored two goals in a good game for the pair.

The series of attacks currently being carried out by Avs makes history. 24 goals in four matches, the most goals ever for a team in four games. Remember, all this without star striker Nathan MacKinnon. While Avs opponents have been significantly weaker this run, there is still something special to watch going on in a busy December.

While Avs led 7-0 in the third set, Avs shot too many penalties in the third. It led to two of Kraken’s night out of three goals. It’s probably one of the few negatives in this game, and it should be addressed before the next game. Again, thankfully, Avs survives healthy, at least without visible injuries from the ice.

Future

So far, Avs is playing his next match Monday night at home against Avs Ottawa senators. Sens is locked due to the COVID virus, and depending on their recovery, the game may not be on Monday. It needs to be kept in mind as it would be the Senators first game when it is not locked. So far, the disc drop is set at 6.30pm MT.
