Tuchel was pleased with Juventus’ “amazing” blow because Chelsea didn’t “fall asleep”

Thomas Tuchel is delighted that his Chelsea team achieved a “great result” compared to Juvent in the group stages of the Champions League.

Chelsea went to this match second in Group H. Juventus beat their rivals 1-0 in Italy about two months ago, but the Blues got their revenge on Tuesday night.

Tuchel’s team was clearly a better team against their rivals when they dominated Stamford Bridge.

They took the lead in the first half through Trevoh Chalobah. The ball fell nicely on him in the penalty area and he smashed the ball home.

Reece James doubled his lead in the second half as his attempt flew far away. They got the third a couple of minutes later.

Callum Hudson-Odoi was the third Academy player to score when he fired the ball past former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

Chelsea didn’t get there because Timo Werner added a fourth in the middle. This result sends them to the knockout stages and it moves them to the top of the H group.

As reported BBC Sport, Tuchel said his players “created so much” in their “great performance”:

“We wanted to be patient, but at the same time we didn’t fall asleep. We wanted to increase the rhythm and intensity. Creating and scoring is so hard, but we created so much. Great performance and great results, Tuchel said.

“We were sharper than in Turin, we took more risks, which we lacked in Turin. By controlling you can’t hurt them – you have to penetrate the ball by running. We were very good and scored nice goals.

“I feel very aware that we’re doing invisible work and when we have to defend, we’re really defending and digging in.”
