Australian opening player Harris says Painen should play in Ashes

Tim Paine gets the full support of the Australian team and deserves to maintain his place in the first Ashes Test against England, Marcus Harris said on Wednesday.

The pressure surprisingly differed from the test captain’s job last week from the lewd text messages sent to a female colleague in 2017 that were to be made public.

Harris said the news was a shock to the game team, which only found out about it 30 minutes before the official announcement.

But he supported Pressure to cope with the scandal and said he deserved to play in the opening test in Brisbane on December 8 for his mere wicketkeeping ability.

“Yes, definitely,” Harris, who is expected to open an inning with David Warner, said when asked if he should be in the starting eleven.

“He’s done a really good job in difficult conditions in recent years, and I think you can still claim he’s the best glove man in the country.

“I know he has the support of all the players,” he added, and most of them contacted Paise in person after the scandal.

“Apparently Painey is a very popular member of the group and she was also a skipper. So we’re looking forward to him getting up here about next week and continuing with cricket.

Paine, 36, has made it clear that he still wants to play in Australia, and appellants have to decide whether to let him go and start over or show loyalty.

He worked against him for lack of game training after the September neck pain surgery.

He returned to Tasmania’s second XI series on Monday grabbing six prey but was then out of the second ball duck. If he is ignored, Alex Carey is expected to get a nod.

Harris wouldn’t care who should be the next captain, as Pat Cummins and Steve Smith are seen as pioneers.

The decision will be made by a five-person panel, but it is not known to include coach Justin Langer, who has been ordered to focus on team preparation.

Instead, the roles will be handed over to voters George Bailey and Tony Dodemause, Cricket Australia board member Mel Jones, CEO Nick Hockley and chairman Richard Freudenstein.

Little Harris – currently in quarantine on Australia’s Gold Coast – is on the team after Will Pucovsky’s second concussion and has decided to seize the opportunity after a bad 2019 Ashes campaign.

He received an average of just 9.66 out of his three tests in England, but he has revamped his technique, leading to a productive season in Leicestershire.

“It was obviously a difficult first set of tests in England for myself,” said Harris, who has played 10 tests so far, all with Pressure as a skipper.

“But since then, I’ve had plenty of time to work on a few things. The proof is the pudding in December. “
