Enita Oshodi of Nigeria was elected Vice-Chair of the ITTF

Nigerian Wahid Enitan Oshodi has been elected vice-president of the International Table Tennis Association (ITTF).

Oshod’s appointment was announced at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday in Houston, Texas, USA.

He became the second Nigerian after Segun George, who has been elected to the governing body of the world of table tennis.

Of the 136 votes cast, Oshodi received 116 to defeat 14 other candidates competing for the seat.

Petra Sorling of Sweden became the first woman to be elected Chair of the ITTF.

Sorling achieved the position without opposition as a candidate for the Swedish Table Tennis Association (STTA).

Egyptian Alaa Meshref was re-elected to the ITTF Executive Committee (EC).

This is the first time that two representatives of the ITTF Committee will arrive from Africa.

Other elected vice presidents include Graham Symons from Australia, Alaor Azevedo from Brazil, Liu Guoliang from China, Roland Natran from Hungary, Masahiro Maehara from Japan and Khalil Al-Mohannadi from Qatar.

Oshodi was a former president of the Lagos State Table Tennis Association (LSSTA).

He was also the State Commissioner for Sports in Lagos from 2011-2015.

He served as chairman of the Nigerian Table Tennis Association (NTTF) from 2013-2017 and was later appointed chairman of the ITTF Nomination Committee.

Earlier this year, Oshodi was elected vice-president of the African Table Tennis Association (ATTF).
