Stefanos Tsitsipas has his right elbow cut, but he hopes to be fit for the new season.

World No. 4 has struggled with the problem in recent weeks, withdrawing from the Paris Masters during his opening match and then ending his ATP final campaign after losing his first group match to Andrei Rubleville.

Tsitsipas, 23, posted a picture on his Facebook page in a hospital bed with his right elbow tied.

The Greek player wrote: “Things often get harder before they get any easier, but with every struggle we get a chance to create our own unique story.

“Some days in life are about your dreams, your hopes and your visions for the future. There are also days when life is just putting your feet in front of another, and that too is ok.

“To all the fans, thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Focused on a healthier and happier future. Next stop, prelude to Dubai in two weeks and then to Australia.”
