Youth Hockey World Championships: Argentina beat Pakistan and advanced to the semi-finals

Argentina knocked out Pakistan’s strong challenge to win an exciting 4-3 in their final Pool D match and reach the semifinals of the men’s hockey Junior World Cup at Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday.

Argentina scored six points out of two victories and finished second in their pool and will face the top of Group C in the semi-finals of the Netherlands, which rode Miles Bukkens by five goals and knocked out the US 14-0.

Germany, which defeated Egypt 11-0 and finished in the top of Group D, will face Spain in second place in Group C.

India will face Belgium, while France will face Malaysia in the other two quarterfinals. All the last eight engagements will be held on Wednesday.

Argentina led 1-0 in the first quarter with Bautista Capurron in the 10th minute goal.

Pakistan fought twice in a brisk second quarter. A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by Abacul Rana. Ali Rizwan’s penalty shootout scored 2-2, but Francisco Ruiz took Argentina to the lead again at halftime.

After the third quarter of the fruit, Ignacio Ibarra increased his lead. Aqeel Ahmed’s penalty 53 minutes into the game gave Pakistan hope and Argentina excitement, but the latter managed to keep their lead.
