The Lagos SWAN Cup starts on Friday

Opening of week 2021 Bet9ja The Lagos SWAN Cup celebrations will be at the center on Friday, December 3, at the Legacy Field inside the National Stadium Complex in Lagos.

As part of a ceremony to anticipate the week-long event, sports veterans will host a new football match, while women from SWAN in Lagos will challenge women referees known as Law 5 Queens.

This year’s event is proudly sponsored by Bet9ja, whose partners include the Lagos State Sports Commission, Owu, Nestle Nigeria, Nigerian Breweries, Intercontinental Distillery, Redbull, La Liga, Guarantee Trust Holding Company and Multichoice.

The opening ceremony, which begins at 4 pm, will be honored by deserving members of society and friends of the association as Gafaar Shakiru Oluwatoyin, director general of the Lagos State Sports Commission, performs the ceremonial opening.

Debo Oshundun, president of SWAN in Lagos, said the unique event is a celebration of friendship, healthy living and camaraderie as people gradually regain their lives after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We will come together again as a unit to show how much we value and appreciate the vision of our founding fathers on whose shoulders we stand today. These visionary great men and women not only founded the SWAN Cup, but also invented it as a platform to promote brotherhood, love, and cohesion among sports journalists in the state of Lagos.

“In keeping with our tradition, with the great efforts of this year’s Organizing Committee, we have hosted great programs and activities such as table tennis, scrabble and football, which will be our flagship event for the next seven days.”
