South Africa beat Korea 4-0 and finished ninth in the ongoing FIH Junior Men’s Ice Hockey World Cup at Kalinga Stadium here on Saturday.

South Africa completely dominated the match from ninth to 10th in the standings.

They scored four goals after a fruitless first two quarters with a penalty corner variation by skipper Guy Morgan (35th, 47th minute), Trevor de Lora (47th) and Zenani Kraai (53rd) and recorded their best standings in the Junior Hockey Tournament.

Prior to this match, Pakistan’s juniors demonstrated their ability to defeat Poland 5-0 and finish 11th in the race.

In the second rating match, the former USA, coached by Harendra Singh of India, won Egypt in a 3-0 penalty shootout to avoid a wooden spoon and finish 15th in the campaign.

The match progressed to penalty shots as the U.S. made a significant comeback in the final quarter from a 0-2 loss to a draw.

Tymen Kloen scored from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute and 60 minutes into the game.

Both goals from Egypt were scored by Abdelrahman Elganayni in the first and 24th minutes.

In the penalty shootout, the U.S. scored through Kloen, Finlay Quaile and Jaton Sharman, while Egypt failed in their first three attempts to give the Americans their first win in the tournament.
