Judd Trump hopes the change in attitude will lead to a successful week at the Scottish Open.

World number one Trump enters the tournament unexpectedly with a 6-3 loss from Matthew Selt in the third round of the UK championship.

“It was a pretty good game,” Trump told Eurosport.

“I just felt like I had to play a little faster, I felt like I was stuck most of the season even though I won a tournament where I still wasn’t running smoothly at my best, so I made an informed decision. this is a little more relaxed and enjoy it. “

After considering his early departure from the UK championship in York, he said the form of the tournament is not to his liking.

“The UK has never been a great tournament for me, although I’ve won it before, I don’t seem to enjoy so much free time between games. In the future, I’ll do it differently to get my thoughts out of things, but I just want to continue the tournament and when I get two or three days off all the time, I’m just a little bored. I just want to keep playing.

“It doesn’t suit me, but I’ll be back next year and I’ll try my best.”

This year’s Scottish Open will be played in Llandudno, Wales due to problems with the Glasgow venue.

Trump has enjoyed previous success at the venue, winning titles there in 2015 and 2017, and hopes for the next strong week.
