Damien Harris scored in a 64-yard run in low light at night, when Mac Jones tried just three passes, and New England Patriots confirmed his familiar spot at the top of the AFC by beating the Buffalo Bills 14-10. Jones’ three attempts were the lowest in any NFL match since Bills quarterback Joe Ferguson’s 0-2 win in 1974.
Defending defender Miles Bryant sealed Monday night’s win by hitting Josh Allen’s goal on the finish line to face Buffalo in the fourth and 14 in New England’s 18 1:55 left.
The Patriots leaned heavily on their ground, beating the bills in a 229-99-yard rush as a cold, windy snowy night nullifies Allen’s strong-handed feed attack.
New England (9-4) won their seventh consecutive game, improved to 6-0 in the away game this season and now has a two-win lead over the Bills (7-5) in the AFC East table.
Harris finished the season with the best 111 yards and opened the goal in the ninth match for New England. Opposite third and fifth, Harris broke into the opening in the middle and was untouched on his way to the finish line.
With the Patriots facing each other in a gust of wind at 40 mph, coach Bill Belichick succeeded in a two-point conversion in Brandon Bolden’s goal just inside the left-hand pillar. The Patriots never left behind when Nick Folk hit two field goals in both winds from 34 and 41 yards.
Bills continued their inconsistencies by losing out of the last seven of the fourth game.
